From "Descendants of John Irish" by W. L. Irish: "He was a carpenter. He moved to Little Compton, R. I. about 1673. Was appointed Constable 7-5-1678, the oath of office being administered by Capt. Benjamin Church. He was a surveyor of highways in Little Compton, R.I.in 1683. ....All the children except Jedediah, remained near Little Compton, R. I."
